We really dooooooooooooo! (How many of y’all caught that? *wink*)
As a young child, I remember his tunes filling the den in our home. My parents are both HUGE music lovers. Mom is musically inclined and dad well, dad just loves it(ha!). One of my favorite songs to dance to as a kid, was Luther’s ‘Bad Boy/Having a Party’. The song just feels good. It still does (goes to iTunes to crank it up). He was a master of the ballad and an up-tempo groove. A talented artist in every way. You could actually listen to his music with the family. How many artists can we do that with today? *crickets*
I must admit, I feel some type of way for this generation of kids growing up with songs like ‘Birthday Sex’, ‘Every Girl’ – and everything else in our culture that is oversexed! This is all they know! Of course on the independent scene there is a lot of quality music, but many of them nor their parents have ever heard of these artists. This is partly why we exist, to get them ADDIKTED to non-status-quo-music. To think outside the bun, so to speak. Can we all take steps to join this movement?!? Every little bit helps…
Luther never gave us too much, it was just enough…Never Too Much
We miss you, RIP Luther Vandross
keep your soulHIGH!
