Ok, so before I give my personal rant on last night’s Grammys, I do want to say that the show was very entertaining. I enjoyed it for the most part, and to add, you haven’t watched an awards show, until you watch and tweet at the same time. It adds a totally different element to it! Shouts to all of our connections and friends on twitter. Some of y’all are really crazy…
Where They Got It Right:
- Lady Gaga: Let me just say I love her(looks around for tomatoes). If you listen to her, she can actually sing. She is different and I’m always a supporter of originiality. We(music lovers) are always complaining about the lackluster-played-too-much-boring-music we hear on a daily basis. Gaga is breaking the trends and I love her for it!
- Beyonce: Until you’ve seen her live, you really can’t fully appreciate this woman’s talent. We had an opportunity to check her out at the Essence Festival this past year and it was an experience. Say what you want but her live show pisses on most! I’m not a stan, but I can appreciate talent and she is definitely talented!
- Bon Jovi: Even if you don’t understand or like rock music, you must tip your hat to this band. Longevity is a rare thing in this industry, so I think their performance was great.
- Uncle Charlie: If you were glued to your computer screen during the Pre Telecast, you saw Charlie Wilson get down. He still sounds the exact same! I’m a huge Gap Band fan, so I really enjoyed him!
Where They Got It Wrong:
- Michael Jackson Tribute: Ummm…
- Urban Alternative Category: While I love India.Arie and appreciate her as an artist, she shouldn’t have won this award. She is a trailblazer and I have a ton of respect for the recognition she’s garnered for soul music, but her last album was mediocre at best! And I make this statement as a fan. Foreign Exchange or Eric Roberson…I’m just sayin!
- Jamie Foxx & T-Pain: I’m tired of the song, but I did like it at one point. I guess I was clueless as to why the young lady in all black was on stage. The tweet streets said she was a family member with down syndrome. *crickets*
- Eminem, Lil’Wayne &Drake: ….bleep….bleep…bleep…pointless performance!
So that’s our two cents!
