I’m not one to really sleep in on a Saturday.  I try, but it never works. So waking up to catch Eric Roberson’s new video was nothing out of the ordinary, but I was so glad I caught it! Several of our connections on Twitter were chatting about the premiere, so we all watched the it together.  I must say that Impakt Studios did a really good job! Also, gotta give a big shout to the homie Ramel, who is looking quite scrumptious as Lalah’s love interest.  BamaLoveSoul and I are trying to get him nominated for an Oscar.  Also, shout to the homie DMo, who we clowned with at Soul Ascension Weekend. This is one of my favorite song’s on Eric Roberson’s new album, Music Fan First.  If you don’t have it in your collection — what’cha waitin’ on?

Soul Ascension Weekend – Part I

Soul Ascension Weekend is a concept, developed by JB, a huge music supporter and fan.  His vision is to see artists get exposure in the Southern Florida area(his home state).  He started last year by celebrating his birthday and decided to keep it going.  Last year featured: Eric Roberson, Dwele, PJ Morton, and Jesse Boykins III.  Last weekend, JB and the ADDIKTS enjoyed a beautiful weekend of live music down in South Florida. We were glad to be a part of such an OVERDOSE!

The weekend included; V, Wayna, Eric Roberson, Jesse Boykins III, and Carol Riddick. We definitely aren’t stingy with our soul, so we want you to experience what we “saw”. Rather than tell you in words, we’ll let you watch. So we present Soul Ascension Weekend – Day I, for your viewing pleasure!

Almost Famous Friday – Brandon Hines

Brandon Hines Bb While searching for clips of Jazmine Sullivan singing live last year I ran across a video of Detroit native, Brandon Hines covering “In Love with Another Man,” with a few lyrical tweaks of course. I’ll admit I was afraid and intrigued all at the same time.  I’ve seen several cover videos and most of the time I end up disappointed.  This was not one of those times.  I enjoyed the sexy, heartfelt delivery and when he turned his hat around about a minute into the song I was sold.  Detroit stand up!!! With all the of negativity surrounding the city I love to see talent coming from the Motor City.  After finding his Myspace page I discovered he’d already dropped an EP “Love Music…Falling In, Falling Out”…well color me late.   Since I stumbled on his Youtube videos Brandon has collaborated with the likes of Eric Roberson and Ryan Leslie.  His latest EP “Weather” is available on iTunes and DatPiff.  Keep your eyes and ears open for this young man and when he blows remember where you heard his name.
