Week after week, it’’s difficult to write about all the great musical artists that have passed on. From the tragic endings to those that are a part of the circle of life, profiling the life and work of artists who have passed reminds us ADDIKTS why we love music.
This Wednesday is no different. Meet Johnnie Wilder, Jr. Johnnie was the co-founder and lead vocalist of the group, “Heatwave.” Ever heard the song, “Boogie Nights?” That was them. ”Always and Forever?” Yep, them again.
The late 70s were full of great music, including music from Johnnie and his Heatwave colleagues. Unfortunately, in 1979, Johnnie’s car was hit by a truck, landing him in the hospital for a year with paralysis from the neck down. Despite that trajedy, Johnnie continued to make albums with Heatwave and had a career as a gospel artist, releasing two albums, My Goal & One More Day.
Johnnie quietly died in his sleep at his home in 2006. Go back in time and “boogie” with Johnnie and Heatwave.
