We Miss You Wednesday: Dinah Washington
Born Ruth Lee Jones in Tuscaloosa,Ala., considered Chicago her true home. She earned a Grammy for “What a Difference a Day Makes”, a well known favorite to many. She was known as a jazz singer that lived a rock star life. She married seven times. Battled weight problems and ran through her money buying shoes, furs, and cars to lift her spirits. A mix of pills caused her death. Dinah Washington passed away at 39. She left only her musical legacy and we are better for it.
